Internship Program

Bumi Sehat has come a long way over the past 10 years, with a lot of thanks to volunteers and interns from all over the world!  Starting from scratch, Bumi Sehat has established two clinics and now has over 30 permanent staff members while seeing more than 17,000 patients and welcoming more than 600 lives into the world per year.  Bumi Sehat has also responded to those in dire need after the 2004 Tsunami in Aceh, the 2009 earthquake in Padang and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.  With all of this amazing work being done, Bumi Sehat now needs more amazing people willing to commit their time and energy to help those in need help themselves.

Effective July 13, 2010, Bumi Sehat is now opening its Internship Program for student midwife applications.

  • Intern Project Manager -- Responsible for coordinating intern team, Bumi Sehat staff and friends of Bumi in undertaking projects to support operations and development of the foundation
  • Fundraising Coordinator -- Responsible for assisting existing fundraising efforts as necessary as well as determining and pursuing new fundraising ventures
  • Intern Coordinator -- Responsible for assisting the Bumi Sehat staff manage the flow of interns, student midwives and friends of Bumi that support the foundation
  • Information Technology (IT) Manager -- Responsible for coordination and maintenance of the Bumi Sehat webpages, media design and advertising materials
  • Community Outreach Liaison -- Responsible for fostering relations between the foundation and the community, with a key focus on aiding the Youth Center coordinators as well as social networking through Facebook and Twitter

Some key specifics about this program:

  • The Internship Program is for those interested in helping Bumi Sehat in Indonesia, specifically Bali but possibly Aceh
  • All non-midwifery applicants are required to commit a MINIMUM of 4 months (120 days) to the program, per the request of the Bumi Sehat Indonesian staff
  • Applicants should select from the available positions when applying and specify their desired timeframe. Where possible, we will do our best to overlap interns of the same position to enhance knowledge transfer
  • Capacity building is a key priority of 2010. All applicants should have a desire to share their skills and talent with the Indonesian staff so that the foundation can improve its internal capabilities
